Cooling Heating Systems

Heating and Cooling Systems

Cooling heating systems depend on one single function, heat transfer.

Heating Systems

Heating units thrive on the fact that heat always moves from a warm object to a cooler one. The source of warm air may come from furnaces. As fuel is burnt in the furnace heat is produced which warms up air. The warm air then moves to cooler areas, thereby warming the entire room.

Home heating units make use of gas, fuel, or electricity as energy sources.

Cooling systems.

Aircons get the cooling ability by taking away heat from the air to make the room cooler. The compressor is at the center of this function. Compressors work for both room cooling as well as fridge cooling. Due to the importance of the compressor, most aircon servicing and repairs as well as fridge servicing repairs tasks tend to protect the compressor. For instance, cleaning filters help to ensure the compressor does not over work in dealing with clogged passages.

Types of Heating Cooling Systems

There are three main types of cooling systems.

Central Air Conditioners also known as packaged unit—a full cooling heating system in one. Central cooling systems use ducts to convey air in the house. There is an outdoor and indoor unit. The outdoor unit houses the compressor and condenser coils. The indoor unit has evaporator coils. A refrigerant connects the outdoor part to the indoor part.

Ductless Mini-Split Air Conditioners

Like central system, it has an outdoor and indoor unit. However, it does not have ducts and therefore it is faster, easier, and cheaper to install. Moreover, each unit has independent controls allowing for individual rooms to have choice of different temperature. The mini split system makes less noise in comparison to the central air. You can expect lower cost of air conditioner service since there is not as much dust built up as in central air.

Evaporative Coolers

Evaporative coolers use fans to transfer air from outside house to inside the house. However, before the air gets circulated inside the house, it passes through moist pads. This is where evaporation and cooling of air takes place. Thereafter, cool air is spread in the room or house.

This is a low cost and effect way of cooling. However, it works best in hot and dry climates.

Types of Heating Systems

Furnaces, boilers, and heat pumps are the common drivers of warm air in heat systems.

Heat pumps – ground source or air source heat pumps convey warm air from outside to inside of a house.

Air source heat pumps are cheaper and easier to fit in than ground source heat pumps. Therefore, air source heat pumps are more common.

Boilers and Furnaces in Heating Systems.

Boilers heat water and convey heat in the form of hot water or steam for heating. A system of pipework is used to convey steam from the boiler to steam radiators. Hot water transmittal is done through baseboard radiators or radiant floor systems.

There are many ways to support a hydro heating system, according to the source of energy. Regardless of the energy source, this heating system convey heat either by a radiator or through underflooring.

Liquid fuel boilers make use of paraffin, diesel, or oil as the source of energy.

Gas – liquid petroleum gas or natural gas can also be used for heating systems.

Electricity – can be used as source of energy to supply heat pumps, which can also support geyser installations to provide hot water for bathroom and kitchen.
